Stowe...

Monday, January 29, 2007

This weekend we decided last minute to head up to Stowe, VT for some boarding...and boy was that a great decision!! The conditions were awesome - best they've been all year. We rode all day Saturday & Sunday. It was a little chilly on Saturday but we dressed for it and we were fine. The cold seemed to scare a lot of people away so it wasn't even all that crowded. I took lots of great pics and even a few good little movie clips of us on the mountain. This pic above was taken while we were riding on the Triple Chair...it was so good we just had to buy it!! I need to invest in a better camera so I can get more movies and pics. Next weekend we are boarding at Loon on Saturday with Korrie, Jen and some other friends. It's finally winter!! woohoo!!

Save the....

Sunday, January 21, 2007
date! So this weekend I got a lot of wedding related stuff done. Well, mostly just this "Save the Date" thing that I put together. Below is a picture of the magnet that I designed and ordered online. I then glued the magnet to some pretty cardstock and used some fancy ribbon to tie it all together. (I don't have a pic of that here, if you are special enough, you got one in the mail!!) As of this evening, they are complete, and will be mailed out tomorrow, yay! This whole experience has encouraged me to make my own invitations...I think I'm going to give it a try, because I'm very happy with how these Save the Dates came out. It's all a matter of time, and patience!!

In other news - we tried to get out there and snowboard today but it just wasn't happening. Temperatures were way too close to zero, and the wind was insane. Lots of lifts were on wind hold so it just wasn't worth the drive up there. We are thinkng about a few trips in February though. Until then, I don't have any new pics...sorry for the boring updates!

sick of pink...

Tuesday, January 16, 2007
I had to get rid of the pink template, it was irritating me to no end. So I grabbed this template off the web and sort of modified it to my liking. (aka I stuck a picture of some nice snow-covered mountains at the top). Wish I was boarding down one of those snow covered mountains right now...

let me know what you think of the new diggs!!

Feeling Crafty...

Monday, January 15, 2007
So most of you who know me know that I love to make cards and scrapbook, among other crafty things. Well, this weekend I got really into making my "Save the Date" cards, and I'm almost done. Just waiting for a few more supplies and I can finish 'em up. Anyway, I had today off (woohoo!!) so I decided to try out a few other crafts. I saw this idea for "Framed Art" on the Internet, and decided to give it a try myself. Basically you just use some craft supplies to jazz up a blank picture frame.

I used some unused wooden craft frames that I had lying around, and some leftover patterned cardstock. I put this together in a matter of 20 minutes, and I'm so darn proud of the way it came out! I really think I could sell these suckers...or at least give them away as gifts? I'm going to make a few more and see how they come out. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think...tell me if you like it or not? (if anyone actually reads this blog?)

total washout

Tuesday, January 09, 2007
Well, this weekend at Sugarloaf was a total washout, as you could imagine. We headed up there Friday night and met Mike & Amy for some drinks at the Widowmaker. We stayed over in Snowbrook and were sort of hopeful for some possible skiing & riding on Saturday. So we got up early, took a ride up the Quad, and experienced the total lack of snow and LOTS of mud on the trails!! It really wasn't good. So we turned in our tickets and hit the bar at 10:30am!! Let's just say that Saturday was a long day involving lots of beers. We still had a great time though. Here is a neat shot I got of a rainbow at the base of the mountain. BOO to rainbows, we want to see SNOW not rainbows!! I uploaded a few more pics to the gallery of us drinking beers and not skiing. Bummer.

Warm Weather

Wednesday, January 03, 2007
Well, Happy New Year. I'm seriously getting bummed about this warm weather. Sure, it's nice to be so mild when you're driving to work in the morning...but it's absolutely KILLING the ski slopes! We have been looking forward to heading to Sugarloaf for a few weeks now, and this weekend is looking like some rain....again. BUMMER.

This past weekend we headed up to North Conway, NH and stayed up at Attitash with Jen & Korrie. It was a great time. They actually got hit with some snow on Saturday, so riding on Sunday was good - lots of packed powder. I have to say that Pete and I were not too crazy about the layout of the trails & lifts at Attitash. It was the most odd setup I have ever seen. The worst part was that you had to get out of your board to make it over to the lift, which gets really irritating really quick, especially when you just want to get in lots of runs. But other than that, things were great - Jen tried out her new skis, and she stuck with it all day! She started out a little slow and fell a few times, but as the day went on she improved a ton! Hey, everyone falls right? I had a few nice wipeouts when I was attempting to get some air...it's all good, so enough I will be landing jumps :)

New Years Eve was a good time - we found a nice restaurant and had some great food and lots of drinks! Monday AM was a wash with lots of freezing rain so we skipped the mountain and went shopping instead. I'm sad to say that I took no pictures this weekend because my digital camera is a piece of crap. I'm definitely in need of a new one, especially one that is smaller and will fit in my ski jacket so I can take pics on the mountain.

I'm off to do my "cold weather please bring me snow dance". Hopefully the rain will at least hold out from upper Maine this weekend and we can have a great time boarding. I promise I will take some pics this weekend no matter what!
