I was trying to do the math this weekend, and I'm thinking it was about 18 years ago when my Mom came home one day and surprised my brother & I with tickets to see the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK on their summer tour. My brother was less than thrilled (being around 40,000 screaming girls, yikes. girls were still "yucky" to him then!) I on the other hand, was ABSOLUTELY OVERJOYED. I couldn't believe I was going to get to see Joey up close!

Of course, by up-close it meant lawn seats and binoculars, but who cares? I got to see them in concert on their "Step by Step" tour. It was without a doubt, one of highlights of my early childhood!
Fast forward to this weekend...15 years after the New Kids officially split up - they were back in BOSTON, and I was there my friend, oh yes...I was :)

I went to the concert with Kate, Abby & Jen - and let me tell you - it was AWESOME. Really. None of us had high hopes. I mean we had some drinks beforehand, made some corny shirts, rocked out to the old songs on the way in, and just thought it would be sort of funny. But ya know something?? They put on a GREAT show. They sang some new, but mostly old - all great songs. (My Favorite Girl, Right Stuff, Please Don't Go Girl, I'll be Lovin' You Forever, Cover Girl, Hangin' Tough...)

I've never seen so many 30-40 year old women in one place, screaming their heads off. I can't believe how much I myself screamed. I was instantly 10 years old again. it was SO much fun. I hope the New Kids keep going. They are still just as cute and their dance moves are just as fun, bringing out the inner-10-year-old-Joey-McIntyre-lover in me!!

back from the Bahamas...

we are back from our short cruise to the Bahamas...and I have to say, it was fun...but hectic! I've found that cruises aren't really all that relaxing...lots of running around. But they are FUN so I cannot complain. Here is a photo of us on formal night at dinner, with a slice of cake the waitstaff brought out for us. There were 2 candles for us to blow out, and the cake said "Happy Anniversary" - it was really nice. Can't believe it's already been a year!

I've uploaded the rest of the photos HERE - gotta make this short & sweet because today is a super busy day trying to catch up!

Air Show

Monday, September 08, 2008

this weekend we headed out to the Air Show at my Dad's work (Westover ARB in Chicopee). He painted the official Air Show poster this year, and they had his artwork on the posters for the show! Dad also designed a kids t-shirt that they were selling. It was a gorgeous day and we got to see lots of neat planes & stunts. (Including a jet-engine truck that got into an accident & flipped over! it was cool. haha)

end of summer..sort of.

this past weekend we were back down on the Cape for a nice long Labor Day Weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect on Sunday & Monday. Saturday was a little ehhh - but it's OK because the other 2 made up for it. Above is a photo of Pete and I standing outside Kathy & Mike's house with the ocean in the background. Don't mind my awesome hairdo. I was on the beach all day...

We headed down on Saturday, had lunch with Pete's parents at the Clam Shack in Falmouth Harbor, and then headed to my sister-in-law's house in Mashpee. Later on that night we had dinner and ran into an old college friend of mine. It was great seeing her. Sunday we beached it and hung out with the Lanzo's. Monday we went out on the boat with the Melanson's. Click here to see all of the photos of us tooling around Cape Cod.

Today I'm back at work, and sad that summer is basically over! We have a few more weeks of sunshine hopefully. Pete and I are off to the Bahamas for a short cruise on 9/19 to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. Crazy that we've already been married for a year...it's been a REALLY great year though :)
